A huge storm is brewing in Columbus, Ohio from an independent death metal solo artist named Jonathyn Arthurs. Jonathyn Arthurs is a teenager who sings about doubt and gloom under the name The Dark and Bleak while sounding similar to Metallica with “growling” vocals and “slithering” metal melodies that sound like a lion bursting out of a cage. The Dark and Bleak released his latest CD “Delineate” on June 21, 2014 featuring ten ominous tracks which will cause listeners to get a severe case of “night sweats.”
The ominous journey begins with the first track “Voice of Desire.” This track features “growling” vocals and “slithering” metal melodies. This track is an angry tale about a young man who is angry about being judged by those individuals who do not understand his way of life and refuse to realize that the young man has many talents that could be helpful in society. Meanwhile, the ominous journey continues with the second track “Shards of a Once Glorious Statue.” This track features “growling” vocals and “eerie” metal melodies. This track is a gloomy tale about a young man who is upset about being mistreated by those individuals who were around him when he was supposedly doing the “right thing” by helping other people. However, the heartbroken young man feels very strongly that he was being used without so much as a “thank you.”
Finally, the ominous journey ends with deep sadness in the fourth track “Obscurity.” This track features “snarling” vocals and “icy” metal melodies. This track is a dark tale about a young man who is feeling extremely isolated. The lonely young man feels that the world has literally left him behind.
The Dark and Bleak is a promising young independent death metal solo artist who is not afraid to sing songs about the dark “underbelly” of society. The dark and Bleak lets death metal fans have a voice with his latest CD “Delineate.” This “brooding” collection of music will remind people that society can be very unforgiving.
