Life is a weird game that human beings must play and it is full of unexpected twists and turns. Vows are an unsigned dream pop/alternative quintet out of New Brunswick, New Jersey that sounds similar to Electric Light Orchestra with their sorrowful vocals and “eerie” alternative rock melodies that will surely bring tears to one’s eyes. Vows released their second CD “Stanger Things” on May 1, 2013 featuring ten heart wrenching tracks.
The sad journey begins with the first track “Carousel.” This track features soulful vocals and “breezy” orchestral melodies, along with light alternative rock melodies. This track is a peaceful tale about life being just like an amusement park with many twists and turns. Meanwhile, peace turns into sadness in the second track “Sunday.” This track features “weeping” vocals and “gritty” alternative rock melodies. This track is a dark tale about a troubled man who is trapped under a cloud of darkness. The troubled man feels like everything he does turns into a disaster.
Finally, the sad journey ends with a desperate request in the third track “Nighttime.” This track features soulful vocals and “airy” alternative rock melodies. This track is a lonely tale about a man who is longing to find peace in his life. Even though, the lonely man dearly loves his family.
Vows are a great unsigned dream pop/alternative rock quintet that blends soulful vocals with a “breezy” orchestral sound. The CD “Stranger Things” lets people know that the game of life is an unexpected journey.
